One of the biggest challenges that the historians and the anthropologists who are interested in slavery face are deciding whether there even one single institution of slavery that exists across time and space that they can study. It is tempting to assume that all details might differ but there is something called slavery out there, popping up throughout history and that we would know it if we saw it. But of course, just as Dr. Jonathan Brown explains, what we would recognize as slavery would be defined by our own cultural memory of what the English word slave means to us.
When we think about slaves, the picture we build in our heads is the convention we have grown to relate slavery with. Black slaves brutally treated like animals or even worse. Our idea of slavery is completely radicalized as degradation of human beings. We can’t really blame ourselves for this perception, we perceive what we have been made to perceive. Slavery has always been portrayed in the media, or by the people in power to be that of severe inhumanity done towards a certain group of people. Dr. Jonathan Brown, through his lectures – Jonathan Brown Slavery clarifies that however, this is fairly rare in reality. Generally, in human history, slavery is not radicalized; it is an economic and living condition that anybody from any race can fall into.
Generally, there are pretty strong laws governing slavery. These laws prevent you from brutal treatments of other people. Media and movies have seared images of slavery in our minds where African men and women are being seized by ruthless slave traders who are torn from their homes and packed like cattle on slave ships, sold like cattle in the auction and then landed up working and being treated in the most inhuman way most of their lives. Slavery is thought of reducing a person to a status of property owned by another person and deprive them of their natural right of Freedom.
The problem with slavery, as Dr Jonathan Brown expertly points out is not in the word or the meaning of it, it lies in our assumptions or memories of what we have seen being portrayed of what slavery means or what slaves are.

One question that a lot of business owners have is whether the older forms of marketing products is still a worthwhile investment. There are still forms of traditional marketing out there that are relatively good when it comes to the results that they provide. However, it can’t be denied that for the most part their results pale in comparison to those obtained when you are marketing yourself over the internet instead. Just think about it.
When was the last time you got a flier while you were opening your door in the morning? If you did recently, how long did it take before it ended up in the trash? Think about more obvious advertisement methods. When you see a billboard advertising a certain product, do you actually go on the website when you get home to check it out? The attention span of humans in the present day is deplorably short. You probably will have forgotten all about it by the time you get home.
You don’t have to spend a fortune
When you talk to someone who is an expert in this field like Adeel Chowdhry internet marketing feels like it gets a whole lot simpler. This is because they know exactly what to do to make sure that customers are brought in by the truckload to a particular website and stay there without leaving. Inspiring loyalty in people is what these guys do, and they do it very well.
Now, this doesn’t mean that you have to pay a huge amount of fees to try and market yourself. As the owner of a small business, it is pretty obvious that you want to save as much money as you can when buying up marketing spots. Thankfully, marketing on the internet doesn’t have to cost you too much money.
Ah, entrepreneurs. Masters of their own destiny is what they are. These are the people who can’t stand having to work for other people. There are bosses out there who can put people off office work for the rest of their lives because of how bad they are. There are many perks to being an entrepreneur though. For one, you get to stick it to the figurative “man”. You don’t have to work for anyone, meaning that you can be your own boss and make your own rules. No longer will other people dictate how much you get paid and who you have to report to. You are at the top of the food chain in your business and it is going to stay what way.
Do Things Your Own Way!
You also get to break all racial boundaries. You don’t have to worry about not being hired because of your race, nationality or even your religion. You can be a Buddhist, Indian, African-American or Muslim entrepreneur and it isn’t going to make a single difference because you now control your own job and your own fate. You also get to dictate the terms of your schedule. You don’t have to think about your deadlines in terms of the office, but rather of your clients and meeting production requirements. You can take as many days off as you want too.
As an entrepreneur you also get to work how and where you want to. Want to complete that new HR department listing while sipping on your favorite latte? That’s completely acceptable because you are your own boss. Oh, being an entrepreneur is hard work, but it is wonderful indeed when it comes together like it can. You also get to show YOUR employees that not all bosses are bad bosses.
